Reducing dependence on China, strengthening protection for the European market and expanding trade with new partners were the central themes of an informal meeting of EU trade ministers in Dublin.

Poland’s position was presented by MichaƂ Baranowski, undersecretary of state at the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology. The ministry said Poland supports a more balanced trading relationship with China while broadening the European Union’s economic partnerships.

The topics discussed reflect several connected priorities for European trade policy. Reducing dependence on China points to the importance of diversifying economic relationships, while stronger protection for the European market concerns the conditions under which businesses compete and trade within Europe. Developing cooperation with new partners offers another way to broaden those relationships.

Together, the priorities underline a two-part approach: maintaining trade ties with China while seeking a more balanced exchange, and expanding cooperation with other partners. The ministry’s statement identified these issues as the main subjects of the Dublin meeting and said Baranowski represented Poland’s position. It did not detail specific proposals or outcomes from the discussions.
